harvesting cabbage
« on: June 29, 2009, 21:20 »
hi guys

I have some cabbage in which was put in part of the plot before i got it, think its called hepsi?

I was wondering when I harvest it should I dig it out or slice the head off? a guy down the lottie said I should slice the head off and leave the stem and root in the ground and it will grow back the next year?

If you ccut the head off and leave a stump, then cut a cross in the stump you can get four little cabbages grow quite quickly  :D

It's an accepted method for most cabbage.

Cut a cross in the stump and you'll get 4 new shoots. Don't expect full blown cabbage, but you should get some tender leaves.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
