soapy water?
« on: June 26, 2009, 08:55 »
I have noticed my cabbages and sprouts were getting a little eaten by our insect friends, so i gave them a spray with some washing up liquid and water as this got rid of the catterpillars off my red currant bush.  Does any one know if this will help them ? and also what else i can do with my other veg, eg. Caujette, pots, Squash, Sweet corn etc!

I know i can products but i dont want to feed them chemicals, as i might as well buy them from the supermarket!

Any advice anyone??

Ta  :D

Lots of people use soapy water, its one of oldest methods around. I havent been plagued (yet!) but will give it a try.  Lots of people also use garlic, comfrey, manure and nettle teas for feeding and spraying against pests

You could try a netting or mesh to keep the bugs at bay....

Netting is really useful for keeping the pigeons off too  ;)
