Kelvedon Wonder
« on: June 23, 2009, 18:56 »
My Peas, Kelvedon wonder are going crazy.

According to Suttons website the height is 41-50cm.

My Beauties are about 5 feet tall and still going  :)

They have loads of peas on them and look real healthy, good job i built a tall frame for them to climb.

Is this normal for the seed merchants to get the height so outrageously wrong.?

Steve

Mine are Wilkos KW, and growing at the normal height
I wonder if Suttons packaged the wrong pea seeds? Ive had some bush tomatoes this year that arent bush toms  ::)

Mine were sweet millions that I bought for 4 hanging baskets. I finally accepted defeat last week and accepted they werent going to bush  Theyare now tied to canes.  Good job I got tons of tom seeds from DD, or I would have actually been quite bereft of toms this year.

My seeds must have had a mix up too, I have early onward and they are meant to be 60cm and they are about 4 1/2 foot tall.  My seeds were carters.

It's a mystery to me

I've got Serpette Guilloteau from Real Seeds growing at home and at the plot and they're only supposed to get to 1 1/2 metres. They're now at 6 ft and not showing any signs of stopping! Lovely big pods though!

Peas grow taller if there is plenty of nitrogen in the soil e.g. if manure was dug in. They also grow taller if there is plenty of water.
