Rhubarb and orange jam
« on: June 23, 2009, 10:40 »
Well  I've got the ingredients so it seems a shame not to try!!!

When it says leave over night how long??????  I'm impatient and have woke up and thought I want to make it now!!!!!! ::) ::)

I know, I know patience is a virtue but it's one I don't possess :)
Will let you know what a disaster I make!!!!!

Another thing should you peel the rhubarb????  My Auntie says you should always peel it but my mum thinks as long as it is washed it's fine?????

I've never peeled rhubard, but then again I've never made jam with it either, just pies and crumbles. It normally will mush very easily once cooked, and the "strings" that you might get from the stalk or the skin mush too.

Perhaps let us know how you get on?

I made it!!!!!!!!!!  By god it's nice!!!!!!  It's a cross between marmalade and jam.   You HAVE to have a go at making it!!!!

Told you jam was easy! Strawberry next...we've got loads and I'm about to pick and freeze until I'm ready to make it.

Thanks Val,
The only slight problem I have with the jam is that I think I let it boil too long ..    Urm lets just say it's NOT spreadable really.  It's okay if you want to eat it with a knife and fork????? ::)   It'll last longer anyway cause we can't get it out of the jars   .   Never mind try again :tongue2:
