I'm sure this is obvious to most of you, but have pity on a new gardener! Do you have to pinch out the leaders on runner beans or just let them get on with it? How tall will they get (how long is a piece of string, perhaps). Thanks

General advice is to pinch them out when they get near the top of their strings/canes
they can reach 8ft or more

Just to add my question to this thread. Once you've pinched out the growing tip, I presume this is something which you then have to do again and again on a regular basis to stop upward growth?
