Hopefully it will just be early blight and not cause many problems.

Also in PE area. This means that conditions are right for blight spores to develop. No cases have been found of blight in potato crops. Blight has been found in Cornwall and Kent but these were on volunteers and potato dumps. Clean up your plot, hoe out volunteers and pull out potatoes growing in compost heaps. Check on your neighbours plot and politely hint that they should do the same.

Wether we get blight depends of the weather in the next week. Symptom on plants could show in about a week. I shall wait and see if Blightwatch finds cases on farms before I apply dithane. Dithane and bordeaux mixture protect the leaves but do not kill blight once it is in the plants.

We have had several smith periods this last week and I am watching the crop like a hawk.

This is the first time I've grown Potatoes/Veg and i really don't want to loose them. I hope that I dont get an infection, I am not on an allotment and am roughly 1 mile away from any housing estates. Although I am using a site that was once a garden the owner tells me that nothing has been grown on it far at least 50 years Fingers crossed and I hope I wont have to use Dithane.
