went away on thursday for easter came back on monday evening...
before i went a rigged up a drip watering system hooked up to barrels of fresh rain water for my patch,i asked my friend to do the watering for me all he had to do was turn on the tap and water any bits that the hose did'nt reach>>>got back to see that it was'nt done properly, to my horror!! i think that i might just have got away with it JUST,as we had a few showers over the weekend and i gave the whole plot a good soaking.
so its true if you want a job done DO IT YOUSELF!!!

(getting married in rome in july, any ideas for the watering during that time?)

find a different friend and make sure they know they'll get handsomely rewarded for their efforts?

Leave the wife to be at home to do the watering? :)

So there we were in Spain on holiday. Every day we rang home and reminded the daughter to water as promised.  So we return home and she'd watered... once .... the day we arrived.

Oh, and she'd had a portable BBQ on the wooden table.  Nice oblong of char dead centre.

So kids are out... she was only 23....

What part of the job did your friend not do?  Was the problem not watering every day, or not the right places?

Last year I watered my Uncles garden whilst they were on hols for just over two weeks.  He had set a system up so that it watered itself overnight via drip hoses, and all(!) I had to do was water the greenhouse and the parts of the garden the self watering hose did not reach.  I have to admit it took me an hour each day, so thank goodness I didnt have to do the whole garden!

Need to identify just what the problem was to know how to rectify.

Last year I left no. 1 son home to water the garden while I took daughter and no. 2 son to france (no.1 didn't want to come!)  he was also cat sititng, he did manage to feed the cats and he did water the garden as requested.  of course he didn't remove the fruiting courgettes, strawberries etc and didn't notice the infestation of caterpillars on the brocoli.  But he did water!

Live together instead of marrying.

Get wed in England and spend the honeymoon going away for days out so you can water every evening.

Get the helper to practise whilst you are at home to show them exactly how you want ot doing and leave a list covering things like ripe fruit and caterpillars.
