Thanks all.

Do you eat the flowers raw.

yes, stick them in a salad with beetroot leaves, nasturtium etc. Fab!  :)
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

WOW, I didn't know that you could eat the flowers raw! We ate one flower last year in a soft lemonade batter and it was gorgeous, one flower for five of us, lol :( !

Does removing the flower from the courgette whilst it's still growing damage it? Do we have to wait till we pick the courgette?

My son, the budding chef, can't wait to make chocolate courgette plant, however, both kids have a bit of the problem with the fact that they're growing in manure! They currently won't touch the lettuce or the radishes and we've got a bit of a glut going on.

Take the male flowers (the ones without the baby courgette behind) but not all of them at once or you will never get any courgettes  At the start of the year they do tend to make a lot of male flowers so it's easy to take them then :)

Whoa.... who's getting a trifle defensive then ::)
Did say you have to leave some alive if you want (courgette) babies, think that's a fair comment though:lol: :tongue2:

Err, no one told me you only need ONE Courgette per Chocolate Courgette Cake! My son's asked for 18 bars of chocolate this week, ,lol!
