Red Mite, Lice & disease
« on: May 25, 2009, 20:20 »
Just building a wooden duck house.
I was wondering what treatment I should use to reduce the risk of disease and mites.
I hear alot about red mite on chickens but is this also appropriate for ducks?
If not what are the main risks for ducks that i can talk preventitive action for?
The house will be made of fresh timber and treated/painted with a water based timer/fence paint.

Any help appeciated

Hi Darren.

I agree with RH. I think red mite can't get through the feathers on a duck. There are some mites or lice as far as I know but generally doesn't seem to be a problem.

I would say you've done all you need to do.
