When to start cutting Lollo Rossa Lettuce
« on: May 22, 2009, 16:47 »
I've got some Lollo Rossa lettuces growing and I understand that they are "cut & come again" type but I'm wondering when to start taking leaves? I don't want to damage them by taking leaves too early.

Lovely looking lettuces you have there out4nowt.
I would start selecting the largest outer leaves, and they should keep you going all summer long. What type are the other ones?

i agree.  take an outer leaf and taste it first. if its good, pick more :)....you will be suprised how they benefit from being 'plucked' so to speak.

Great, I think I'll start taking a few leaves.

The Lettuces next to the Lollo are Iceburg type. I forget the name exactly.
