We put the chooks food and water outside in the run during the day, should we be providing water for them for through the night too?

No!  Not unless they sleep walk!!   :D :D  When it is dark in their house they just go to sleep.  I know people say to provide water 24/7, but if our girls hae water in their house , if they get up before they are let out and start tearing around, they can knock water over, and wet litter is not good for them.

So we keep their water outside and never had any problems.

Thanks GrannieAnnie. That was a very prompt reply.

We where just wondering as they seem to run straight to the water when we let them out in the morning.

Thanks again, you have settled OH's mind for her going to bed, LOL. She wouldnt have slept with worrying she was doing wrong to her girls!

Someone will come on and say different parson, but it's what suits us.  Yes, ours come rushing out in the morning and go straight to the water, but then when I get up I like a nice cup of coffee, don't you???    :D

My Brian actually put a semi auto watering thingy in the big henhouse, but with the girls rushing up and down all the time, especially when its wet and they stay inside, and the  litter used to get wet and smelly quite quickly.

But since we left the water outside, and now Brian has made where the windows were into louvres, we don't get any condensation either, the litter stays drier much longer too.
