My April cabbages have grown to a good size, not hearted up much but my stuff usually bolts first for some reason (any advice on this welcome too).  As I've only eaten one so far and have 4 more, how long can I expect them to last?  I just cut leaves off them as needed, but I'd rather give them away now if they're going to go off.

unless the caterpillers etc get them should stand a few weeks yet. even if they bolt you can still use them. We have been taking spring cabbage for about 5 weeks now and they look as if will stand for a month or so more. Unless i want the ground, get bored or feed the ducks on them

We like them as Spring greens and do not wait for them to heart up fully. When you cut one cut a cross in the top of the stalk and there will develop 4 shoots which will provide more greens. These may go quickly to seed so harvest the young leaves.
