incubating turkey eggs
« on: May 12, 2009, 17:17 »
Can anyone advise please?
I have just bought an rcom 24 egg king suro incubator. I have ten of my own bronze turkey eggs to put in it what temp and humidity would be best?
Also any other tips before I put in the eggs would be greatly received.
Thanks very much

Hi Owein

According to my books it's the same as hens 37.5c temp 40-50% humidity :)
I cheated and used a broody hen for Paxo's eggs only he hatched though :(

Have you had the incy running for 24 hours? Best to before you set the eggs so you can check there are no great changes in temp & hum :)

Let us know how you get on :D

Sarah :)

Thanks, sarah thats about what I thought but thought I would check.

Probably a daft question now, The instructions that come with the incubator are poor to say the least and say nothing about how to set up the eggs. In the picture on the box they are end up. I don't have enough to position like that so  they are lying sideways (as they would under a turkey!) I take it this will be ok?

Thanks again

Have to admit never seen this Incy before
I've had a search and found this :

http://www.r-com.co.kr/english/02_product/Suro_Eng.php

Which is what came with it I presume :)
I can't see a problem laying the eggs on their side apart from when the cradle is turning. Will the eggs be ok then? not fall out or anything?

Will be interested to hear how you get on :D

Sarah :)

Yes that's the one.
No problem with eggs falling out, they seem very settled!
Will keep you posted.
thanks
