No, in theory you would need something about 2ft high to get the better of them, BUT by using a RB you can manage the Carrots easier so make a drill and sow your seed one seed per station. That way you don't thin out and is the smell that is given off at it thinning out time that attracts them (Most of them).


You don't need to fill them up in the first year, it's more about no tread beds and they fill up as you plant out and compost each year.

how do you manage to sow one carrot seed per station, i can hardly see them lol.
best practice i learnt over the years was a finger and thum nip of seeds 4 " apart.no need for thinning just use as required.i think it's called multi sowing nowadays.
