I have bought some fairly big fruit bushes redcurrant,blackcurrant from lidl and have put them in large pots in the garden should I leave them there or should they go in the ground

If you have the space, put them in the ground. You'll get a better established plant that will fruit well and not dry out so quickly as in a pot. Be sure to space them at least 3 ft (1M) apart as they'll be large when mature.

I agree with Trillium, definitely in the ground.  The roots can pretty wide spread.

They grow quite big, not sure if its placement, but my redcurrant is probably 4x the size of the blackcurrants, only been in a year

If you're going to let them grow as bushes then 5 feet apart is a better spacing as they do get really big. It seems a big spacing when they first go in, but in a few years they'll soon fill up the space. My currants are now groaning under the weight of fruit, so it looks like being a bumper year, better get some netting up soon or the birds will have them like last year.
