will it damage anything?
« on: April 26, 2009, 19:25 »
I,ve got hold of a old cold drinks fridge thingy the type you see in shops ect about 7 feet tall,,, anyway it has been degassed ect i,m thinking along the lines of burying it in the garden so the the glass door is about 6 inches above ground ,, then just boarding the inside out a little so as i can use it as a coldframe,, i will take all the other bits and pieces off it so all that wil be left should be the casing,,  leave the silvery inner in as well as i guess thet this will insulate to some degree as well as reflect light..
any problems with this??

This may be an aside...but the reason they remove doors from fridges when they are finished with is so that kids cannot get inside and get trapped.  Not sure if this will be a problem at your site but worth considering.   :(

Also, you are going to be burying metal and I am not sure what the impact of that will be on any future crops.  Although the gas is gone I suspect other nasties would be remaining that could potentially seep into the area.
