A couple of years ago I started my youngest step DIL off with some veg plants, including 4 different varieties of tomatoes.  There was yellow pear, 2 red ones and Tigerella.  Some months later, I said to her, how are your tomatoes doing?  Oh a couple went manky so I threw them away, the other 2 were alright though.  so next time we went over there I took them a bag of tomatoes, including some yellow pear.  Oh look she said, that those manky ones!  Silly woman, becuse they were yellow she thought there was something wrong with them!

My friend's husband has given me a couple of Yellow Pear, I've never grown them before so they'll be an interesting new addition to my usual tomato collection. Hoping my greenhouse will result in a better year than last year, but I'm already a bit worried that I've gone a bit mad with the amount of little plants waiting to move out to it!

We all do that I think!  I've got more plants than I've got room for, but its good in case anything dies and also you can give some away.

I 've grown differnet tomato plants in my PT and saved the seed and sown the seed without problems.

Try my best to be Organic but don't always make it

well there's no doubt you'd grow a tomato ...........but it may not be exactly the same as any of the ones you grew last year (assuming that the plant didn't just self pollinate anyway)

maybe it's worked for me as there are less insects in the PT anyway. I always save the seeds from earlier fruit just to make sure 1) I get some and 2) thought it might help the next batch to be early.

My tomato seeds came from realseeds and I've just dug out their seed saving instructions and they make no ref to crossing but where as they do when refering to other vegtables. Now the instructions may have changed as this info sheet is three years old.
