I would quite like to grow some i know you need a couple of years for it to mature but i have a couple of questions

when is the best time to plant a crown?
how much space per crown ?
and how many crowns do you need?

has anyone got a pic of some growing?

If it helps, I've got 39.

Last year during the season we had asparagus just about everyday in one form or another.

This is probably a bit excessive and 20 would have done. That said, it's nice to give some away & asparagus soup is easy to make & freeze.

The suppliers keep crowns in a chiller so that they do not start growing. Now is a good time to plant. I got some last Spring from

I planted one crown about 6 weeks ago just to try it out. Probably completely the wrong time to plant it but already there is one clearly visible shoot and another just poking through. Quite amazing given the short length of time its been in the ground!
