I impulse purchased some asparagas plants and didn't have the space planned to put them in the ground.

i have put them into large pots and they have started to flower.

If i plant them out next spring, will i still have to wait two years for cropping, or will this year count?

Exactly the same thing happened to me 4 years ago - I bought the crowns, had an accident and was unable to get to the plot to prepare the ground and plant, so I put them in big pots.  They were perfectly fine when I planted them out the following year, but because the pot had confined the roots and limited access to nutrients, I thought it wise not to harvest any spears, and was well rewarded with a magnificent crop last year and again, some amazing spears are coming through again.  I did wonder if I could have at least done a taster, but I'm so glad I waited.  You won't regret being patient
