Tumbling toms not germinated
« on: April 10, 2009, 13:31 »
I planted some tumbling tom seeds from Ebay over 2 weeks ago and planted them in the greenhouse. Not a single one has germinated. Is it too soon ?

Is it warm enough in your greenhouse? They need 18-21 degrees to germinate. I've done all mine indoors in propagators and then pricked them out.

No need for expensive heated propagators! Bring them inside & put them in a plastic bag. Whip them out as soon as you see germination & stick some aluminium foil behind them to reflect the light.

It's still quite cold at night.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Mine took a while too hubballi, on an indoor windowsill. But once they sprouted and I popped tin foil around they were well away.
I wouldn't worry just yet, give them another week maybe to show some sign of life?
