Carrots in baths?

Hi Guys and Girls,
I have recently obtained a couple of unwanted baths for the allotment. I thought I had read somewhere that carrots grow well in baths and that the raised height could help avoid carrot fly. Is this right and if so what is the best way to do it? (Ie Would it be a good idea to start with some stones at the bottom for drainage and fill up with sieved topsoil?

The Search seems to be a whole-word search, e.g. BATH gets different results from BATHS
