Worming chickens

Can anyone help? I have heard that chickens need to be wormed, but why, and when? How can you tell if your chickens have got worms? Where do they get them from? What do you worm them with? Lots of questions I know, but I am a novice poultry keeper, and I want to do whats best by them.

You wont necessarily see the worms, but if they have been on the same ground for a long while and you have wild birds dropping in to say hi then it is best to do them :)

Hello all new to this site and think its great!! Just discovered one of my chooks has tiny worms in droppings, im assuming they will all have them now, i have 6 in total, have started giving them cider vinegar as i want a natural solution... question is...... is it still safe to eat eggs if they have worms?  any comments welcome  :)

i use verm-x (pellet form) comes with a handy measuring scoop and i mix it with porridge or veg cut up fine with a little veg oil for 3 days once a month - easy.

I visited the farm yesterday and bought some flubenvet, the guy there said to dilute it in one litre of water although I've read previously that you add it to the food or doesn't it matter how they get it?

VermX is a herbal preventative, if you find worms in the droppings then the bird will have a high worm load and flubenvet would be the best remedy.
I have never heard of diluting in water? I add to feed as per instructions. Have  read of this:
