Cheapest supplier for feeders and drinkers?
« on: March 31, 2009, 14:11 »
As I wait for the coop to be built...  I thought I would get on with ordering the extras needed.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the cheapest place to buy feeders and drinkers?  I would like a galvanised feeder and plastic drinker (I think!).  I have been told you can't put ACV in galvanised drinkers, so thought better go for plastic?

Any advice, gratefully received!  :)
Totally obsessed with all things chicken!

Hi there - think we both new and chose same username!!
We have just ordered our drinker and feeder and after much searching I bought from Ebay as they seemed cheaper.  I got plastic for both (green/white ones) just because of cost.
We haven't got any chickens yet, hope to next week after run is finished.
Good Luck!

Oooh the similarities!!!  I'm am sooo impatiently waiting for my coop to be built (in fact if Hubby and Father don't get on with it soon, I may be forced to pick up tools myself!)

We are going to get Favorelles and Sussex hens, probably 2 of each.

Where are you?  We're in North Devon.

Hi both chicken lickin's!!!! lol  We buy our feeders etc from www.solwayfeeders.com.  They are cheapest we've found so far, but P&P on small items can be bit expensive.  But they are a farming family and after sales is good, they know what they are talking about!

Also, if you put your locations on your profiles, it will help people when you ask questions which could be area related.

Good luck with your chooks!!!

Thanks GrannieAnnie have updated my profile and will check out Solway Feeders for future.  What about feed, any recommendations for buying online??

Hi Chicken Lickin, Hubby has built the run frame but just waiting for the wire to arrive and he can complete which will hopefully mean we can get the chooks next week!!
We have three children aged 9,6 and 2 and they are very excited!  Still not sure what we will get, we have decided to go for 4-5 hybrids and the main criteria is that they all look different and will get on.  I was reading through the pages about feather pulling last night and getting very stressed about what will do if we have any bullying!!

I am hopeful that if we get all the chickens from the same place together we may be ok about them getting on, we are thinking of: Black Star, Speckled Star, White Star, Gold Star (meadow swet ranger) and a Sussex Star - the boys have already chosen their names based on Pokeman characters - oh dear!

Am desperate to get them - any developments on your run!!

The only problem with buying feed online is the extortionate P&P amounts.  Don't you have any big pet shops or horsey suppliers near you?  they usually sell poultry stuff

Hi Everyone.

My first post in a while. I have just started out. I got my first girls last week. This ones really for Grannieannie. I was just wondering wondering if you ever use C.W.G. for supplies. I went to them for my feeder and drinkers last week and were by far the cheapest I could find. Also they were the cheapest I can find for layers pellets and mixed corn by quite a lot. Surprisingly though their mixed grit came out expensive at £8+ for 25kg. I got a bag from a grit factory in Saxilby for £2.50
