urine in compost
« on: March 12, 2009, 07:34 »
Hi, have been told it is not safe to use cat litter in the compost heap. Is this correct, we use a wood based litter & would remove the poo. We always thought urine was good but don't want to use anything that could cause health problems.
Thanks for any sound guidance.

Hi

On the human pee front, I have been told only men's or little boy's wee. Us ladies must not pee on the compost, somthing to do with hormones or somthing.

My compost heap certainly stepped up a gear once I persuaded Mr Moog to provide a 'sample'. I argued that, given the number of little pots that I'd had to carry to the midwife, a small amount wasn't going to dent his dignity too much  :tongue2:.

My music teacher was right. If you have to make a mistake, make it good and big and loud; with a bit of luck people will think that it was always meant to be like that.

oh how I would laugh if I saw one of our allotment ladies having a number one on the heap. I always do. We have no facilities here in Ealing. I am, of course, EVER so discreet x

I nip in the shed and do it in the watering can. Don't tell the wife that I also use the can for watering other plants and not just tipping piddle on the compost  :tongue2:
