I've already sowed some in toilet roll inners ready to transplant, but just wondered if I could sow the seed straight into a tub when the times right, If so do I need to do anything extra to the soil, add sand etc.

no probs but not too menny in a tub they can be a bit greedy

Thanks Nobby, I was worrying about them 'forking' (like I understand what I'm talking about....NOT!)

I'll give both sowings a go and see what happens.

if you do grow them in a tub you can wrap paper around  them that way you get longer whiter leeks

"Can I sow leek seeds straight into the ground (tub)?" ...  yes , but it is definitely not the best way to go.
