Merry Tillers
« on: March 08, 2009, 12:01 »
Is a Merry Tiller suitable for a veg plot that is allotment size?  How does it compare with a Howard 350 please?

It's dark in this shed and smells a bit, probably why I don't come in very often. :tongue2:
Cheese makes everything better.

Sorry about the smell. Beans.
A Merry Tiller is just the right sort of machine. I Don't know a lot about the Howard 350, I've never owned one, but I think they're about the same size.
Have you been offered a rotovator?

It's for my brother, I just offered to trawl ebay for him.  The Merry Tiller is in good condition and will cost £200, does that seem right?

My eyes are adjusting to the dark now and I've propped the door open a bit.

you might have to open the door a lot. (sprouts)

I don't know wether it's just me being a tightwad, but £200 seems a lot to pay for a machine that's pretty old, you don't know the history of it, or how many people have run it low on oil in the past......
It's also half the price of a new one........... >:(

It's his money and he seems to have plenty.

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to follow the trail of breadcrumbs I left and find my way out.

you'll be lucky.
The mice would have eaten them by now.
Why do think I'm in here all the time? I can't find the way out..... ;)

i'm on the 350 side of the fence  8) but before you get any rotavator you need to think how you are going to get it from A to B
feed the soil not the plants
organicish
you learn gardening by making mistakes

Do you think it would fit in my Daihatsu Grand Move?  Don't worry, he has a van you could fit a bungalow in.

the merry tiller will fit in ice but the 350 wont, you will need a van or trailer with ramps/planks to drive it on and off.
