GARLIC QUESTION
« on: February 28, 2009, 18:22 »
I bought too much garlic for the allotment! Can the left over garlic be used for cooking?
I know it sounds like a stupid question but it seems a shame to throw it away.

Yes you should be able to as long as it isn't indicated that the bulbs have been treated, which as far as I am aware reputable suppliers don't do.
It's the other way round that can be the problem as many supermarket bulbs are treated to block sprouting to increase shelf life.

Or you could ask around and see if anyone wants garlic to swap for something else (or even just give it to someone else on the allotment for the good will), as it tends to be a lot dearer than supermarket stuff.
