Has any one had a go at growing potaoes from seeds. Not seed potatoes but seeds.

Exactly what I thought, MoS so I googled  'potato life cycle' ...nothing at all mentions anything about potato growing from seed, just tubers. maybe others know differently but Ive never ever heard of it happening

They will grow from seeds - that's how new varieties are peroduced.  The woun't come true to originat type though.  I dont know how long it would take from sowing see to harvesting tubers though.

I believe that potatoes from the seeds do not grow true.  Also, the potato is in the same family as deadly night shade so I would not want to risk growing from anything other than a seed potato that has been certified as edible.

Spuds also flower, if the flower is pollinated it will produce seed. The only reason for seed is reproduction. So spuds can grow from seed as can any plant that sets seed.

The term seed potato is a bit misleading.
