Log Burner...................
« on: February 08, 2009, 17:56 »
Hi all,

I have had my allotment for 8 month now it came with a big rusty oil drum with a door cut into the side and a bolt welded on to open it the only problem i have is it smokes out the shed wen i start to burn things there. the door isnt completely air tight it has holes drilled in the bottom that i put in to help push the smoke up but it still bellows out from the door any ideas????? problem i have is it has a little ridge jus above the door also.

is there any cheap old stoves out there is so does any one know where

Thanks in advance

First thing, you do not mention a flue pipe, it has to have one to burn
I built one 2 weeks ago and it burns really well, very hot and will burn even green stuff when its really roaring.  and no smoke when its burning well either.
Airtight door not needed for such a stove, ( holes in the side anyway !)
Its the flue that pulls the air in by exhausting the hot air out, if the smoke is not getting drawn up the chimney it will just roll into the room.
