I was always under the impression that if you were private property then it was ok, if you were council then it was against your tennancy agreement...........

Good luck with that though    bloomin council

I know that in america in certain states it is not allowed unless they are classed as pets for children in 4H......

Might be worth looking into....my neighbour had to get rid of his though.. but he didnt know he could try to fight the decision, he was just told that it was against his tennancy agreement.

Fingers crossed...try telling them they are a pet like Muntjac said...maybe you could call citizens advice or something?

well i didnt think to check my deeds, but dont remember seeing anything on there about it, just about sheds over a certain size and keeping the hedges in order or something.

Anyway there are people with ducks and geese and chooks, and others with pidgeon lofts too........ when the neighbour was warned about his he said that it was a tennancy issue and that as my property is private then its not an issue for us........  hope he was right, dont wanna have to get rid of them now!  :?

Checked my deeds before we got Thelma and Louise and it said no pigs, poultry and something else, no more than two cats and dogs per household, but it also said no walls to be built on the front (supposed to be open plan) and also no sign written vans on drives. There are loads of those, so we ignored it. Hubby did ring the council offices to ask and they said there were no regulations at the present time, so we got 'em, and quick. Haven't had any probs so far, fingers crossed.
One of the neighbours has since said that these enforcements were only for the first three years as it was a new estate.
Good luck !
