lime and slugs

does putting lime into your soil help get rid of slugs as they ate it faster than i planted it last year :evil:
when im with my 9yr old she's the sensible one

I am not sure if it will make difference to slugs, but may well attract snails; they need to get the lime for their shells from somewhere and some species may seek out lime.

Hang about - so liming the brassica plot is like putting a little salad dressing on a cabbage salad for snails?  :shock:  Just making the poor little plants even more attractive to the monster munchers? :o
