How about the sunflower seeds  the coaltits planted  late last summer taken from the sunflowers they planted the year before? I've got sunflower seedlings everywhere  :)

Get measuring then... ;)

I had one of those 'if only' moments yesterday. If only I'd weighted my plastic greenhouse when I thought about it...and before the wind took it >:( ::)

Luckily I didn't lose much, but I have hardly any idea what is what now as all the labels fell out...

So you may just find I'll be growing cabbages in my borders  and sunflowers with my caulis on the plot...

stoopid woman.....

You'd better hurry up Shaun. Mine is rapidly sucking all the nutrients from the northern hemisphere. The roots must be halfway to Birmingham by now. :)

   very droll  :D

I read some tips growing tips yesterday.

1. Sow direct because tap roots need to grow long. Pots restrict the tap root.
2. Water plenty every few days. This encourages roots to seek it out rather than just stay near surface.
3. Feed High potash feed every week.
4. They shouldn't need staking if grown properly.

I fail on 1.
I've started taking notice of 2.
I've got a high NK feed but manured the bed well before hand.
I have a sturdy stake to about 6ft.

Oh well. It's a bit of fun  ::)

Last few i've ever grown where from pots and their was always a 'twist' where the tap root hit the bottom of the pot. Really does stunt about 2ft off them.
