I need a little educating please.  :?

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks, quite a scattering of feathers in our coop in the morning when I let my girls out.

I have been wondering is moulting a seasonal or individual thing?

Vember had a really useful link to moulting not long ago, I'm sure she will be here soon & point you in the right direction.  It can do with time of birth, ie 12-18 months later, shorter days can force a moult too........

It is seasonal and normal.  Birds will usually stop laying when this is happening.  Bulk food ration up a bit for extra protein and you may give a vitamin supplement in water to help - not essential though.

Thank you for your replies.  

I have had a search and found some info, which included mention of cat food.  Handy as I have 2 very fussy cats that only ever eat 8 satchets out of a box of 12!!!!  :shock:
