£23.75 saving on RHS book in WhSmiths

I don't know if anybody will be interested but WhSmiths are doing a great offer on the RHS New Encyclopedia of Gardening Techniques. It's reduced from £30 to £6.35. I had my eye on it after reading a review in a gardening magazine but had no intention of paying anywhere near £30 for it! OK, so there are some pages about flowery things in there but the veg and fruit sections are extensive and at first browse seem great

Oh, I just bought it straight from the shop and it was £6.25 :cry: Still, can't complain really at that price! Yes, I want it for lovely flowery things too Val... but don't tell anyone!

thanks muddywellies, i just bought a copy. mine is £8.75 and is "RHS Encyclopedia Of Gardening" not the same as your book "RHS New Encyclopedia of Gardening Techniques". is there a difference? there is a lot of reductions on books at smiths.

It is a different one... I saw that one too - it has a big poppy on the front if I recall correctly? I'm sure it's a great book anyway!

can someone recommend a book from the whs smith book reductions that is detailed in showing someone how to plant/grow/look after vegetables (for a complete beginner)? with pictures of the plants. i was thinking of "Grow Your Own Veg Carol Klein"?

have you bought John's book off here? it's great, they have it on wh smiths website, failing that i would go for the veg and herb expert, although for £3 something carol kliens is not a bad buy

, I have just bought the RHS "Encyclopedia of Gardening" reduced from £35 to £8.75 at my local Smiths. Having had a brief look through it is well worth the money (and I have John's book as well already!). Carrying it back home will strengthen you up for the Spring as it does weigh a lot!

WOW that's cheap.

I've got the RHS book of plants and flowers...cost me about £40. :shock:

Mind you it is a really good book,trouble is if you don't know the Latin name for a flower you're a bit stumped in the index.

I'm going to get myself this new book at that price though.

I know Onion is Allium in latin, so that'll do for me.

My books turned up today (not the RHS one which I am picking up from my local Smiths) so pretty impressed!

This site also gets a mention in the Allotment book! Way to go!
