Picked  a packet of Spinach perpetual seeds.

Looked on the net and only found one piece of info about them saying direct sew in 4th week of April.

Can anyone confirm its a summer variety sewing  april to may for picking late may to end of oct.
Cheers Fluff :?

Correct.  It also overwinters quite happily so you can sow in Aug/Sep too

sow as on pack making allowance for the weather , pick when it about 12inch tall taking  the larger leaves and continue for as long as you want . perpetual means for ever if ya want to pick it , i grow it in a big bed for myself and my chickens in winter

Perpetual spinach is very hardy - I'm still picking baby leaves off last year's spinach beet and swiss chard for our guinea pigs.

In year 2 it throws up a tall flower spike and sets seed just about anywhere, then you'll be coming across spinach plants all over the place for years to come which you can just shift to where you want them.
Gardening organically on chalky, stony soil.

I planted in august and it`s still growing strong every now and then I go out with scissors and cut the lot to 2"and up it pops again,it has had mesh over it all winter so it doesn`t get rain splashed or flattened by the gales.

Too right.  It is hardy to at least -20degs C.  If we get colder than that, I'll send it down to Hampshire for a winter holiday, milkman!   :D

It's good stuff - I've been picking it all through the winter.

Freezes quite well too - I just put whole leaves into a bag, bung 'em in the freezer without blanching, and then crush them when frozen - great for adding to curries, pasta sauces etc when my fussy-* OH has had his out of the pan.
