Hi I have bought seeds from ebay and although they grew alright its false economy by the time you pay postage, also you usually get less seeds  or  no growing instructions - if you need them, but you can sometimes get seeds for unusual varieties, but best to stick to the people who sell a lot of seeds or it could  just be someone sorting out their old seedbox.

i hope so!! i placed an order with these

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Premier-Seeds-Direct

at the weekend, it was the only place i could find the squashes i wanted at a reasonable price, they combine postage as well so no matter how many you order you only pay 70p pastage and packaging

I'm glad someone recommended PSD on Ebay before I did.   Buying from recognised sellers or shops on Ebay is like buying anything on a regular internet site like Amazon.

Like Poppies has already mentioned, if you buy left over seeds from Joe Bloggs or if you buy seeds harvested by regular allotment owners (Allotmenters?  Allotmenteers?) like us, then postage can be very high and instructions may be missing.

I bought Cavello Nero, Rocket and Borrage from PSD last year they were all first class with a plenty of notes on cultivation.  I even got free spring cabbage seed with my first order.

I also bought some Borlitti beans from a bloke claiming to be a seed seller.  The beans arrived in a pink and white stripy paper bag sealed  with sticky tape without even a label.  They were shocking and I had to buy more.

Caveat emptor.  Let the buyer beware.

We bought quite few few different types of tomatoes and peppers, and a few other things, from PSD last year. There are no growing instructions included with the delivery, but each of the listings does provide a reasonable amount of information which you could print or save.

I can report that we had great germination rates for everything we planted.

the seeds are delivered in a little poly bag which has been heat sealed in addition to the slider close thingy.

I ordered some off Ebay, I got

Beetroot 'pronto'

Carrot 'Paris Market'

quite a few seeds in each, but I agree there's the problem with no instructions

.................but I know this smashing site that doesn't mind you pestering them with all sorts of questions!

What did you order?

FRENCH HEIRLOOM SQUASH - GALEUX D'EYSINES
SUMMER SQUASH - EARLY WHITE BUSH SCALLOP
SQUASH - LITTLE GEM ( TRAILING )

That’s when i stopped and thought maybe its a bad idea. some of the seeds will say "italian" e.g italian tomato. that got me thinking that the seeds are from italy so won't grow well in our climate. What do u think?

Quite a lot of Italy is Alpine with summers very variable, like ours. So don't be put off by 'Italian' just have a go you will be surprised.

A lot of "Seeds Of Italy" for example are sold in this country and in general they can be grown in our climate.

The mini cucumbers I grew last year were particularly prolific.

But if in doubt, you can't beat having the packet in front of you to see what it says on the back!

Freaky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ordered exactly the same squashes last year from PSD (+sage so orders weren't exact :( ).
All seed germinated excellently and only problems were slightly late planting and lack of sun which reduced yields.
Might be worth copy/pasting the growing instructions from the ebay pages into a word processing doc for later reference.
Have just got some seeds from ReadytoGrow who seem to specialise in tomatoes, chilies, exotic fruit and ornamentals so I'm hoping for good results from them.

PS Galeux d'Eysines was gorgeous, eat it raw as ours tasted like a strong dense-fleshed melon :D
