Hi everyone!

It's been ages since I've posted on here, but luckily that's because our chickens have been doing great thanks to all of your advice.

Up until now that is! And I need your expertise, please?

Our three ISA browns had been laying non stop since we had them given. They are now in their second year and stopped laying altogether just before Christmas. They look really scraggy and are moulting heavily.

Last year they didn't stop completely, just averaged out an egg every other day each.

I'm not concerned about them producing too much as if they need a rest, then god love em they deserve it. I'm just worried about it being a complete standstill and how scraggy they look.

Should I be worried?

Many thanks, I'm awaiting your replies a little nervously as I'd hate for it to be something serious!

Best wishes for 2009 to you all
Lucy

Hi Lucy

All of my birds stop laying completely when they moult :( - Luckily for me it they never do it all at the same time

Might be worth giving them a bit of cat food to give them a bit of extra protein whilst they're moulting :)

Sarah :D
