Does anyone know of any regular poultry auctions in the wales/west of england/midlands areas?  My internet searches have been quite fruitless.

Thank you.

sorry im miles away so dont know.

but please make sure you know what to look for, as they can be places where people try to get rid of problem chooks, old chooks and young cockerels to those who dont know what they are buying,

dont be scared to take the chickens out and give them a good look over, if any one objects then you have to assume they are hiding something.

and welcome to the best chookie website in the world, all the help and advice is here.  :D

Carmarthen run a livestock auction that has chooks :) not sure what dates, and have never been but definately do have one :)
http://www.bjpmarts.co.uk/

They haven't got any in but:
http://www.greenways-pembrey.co.uk/
is our local feedstore and they have chooks from time to time.

Other than this, check out the classifieds on line or advertise yourself - also check out animal feed stores for cards on their boards.. ;) often a sound way of finding POL. :)

You'll find that at most markets, all the pens have padlocks on them, so you'll be struggling. Its one of the drawbacks of purchasing at a market.

I can recommend the auction at Fairffach near Llandeilo, last Saturday of the month, had a great morning there, well worth a visit. Have fun.

Most livestock auction markets have poultry auctions. If you have rare breeds for sale it may be an idea to target these. Local to us these auctions seem to have a high standard with high prices to match!
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!
