I know nothing about growing Maincrop, I've always grow second earlies.  Can you tell me if I chit Maincrop potatoes the same as the earlies, please?  I'm growing Maris Piper for the Maincrop.

If I get blight on them, is there anything that I can do to rescue them?

No need to chit maincrops. Just plant at the same time as your earlies.
You can't cure blight but you can try to prevent it with a product called Dithane 945 which you can get at a garden centre.
Spray weekly to prevent the disease.

Thanks for the info Iain, I'll have to get some of the Dithane stuff before blight season comes around.

I bought some of the salad potatoes from B&Q, which I planted just over three weeks ago.  The leaves started poking through just a week ago.  Stupidly, I chucked the bag, and I have no idea when they should be ready .  Anyone have any idea?

Depending on the variety they are probably either 2nd earlies and will take about 13 weeks, or main crop spuds which will take a couple of weeks longer.

Can you remember what they were called?  Does Charlotte or Pink Fir or Ratte ring any bells?  If I had to guess, I would think B&Q would be most likely to call Charlottes salad potatoes - they are a second early so 13 weeks-ish from planting they will be ready.  3 weeks in the ground and 10 more to wait ......

I'm not sure, maybe charlottes (not pink fir I don't think cos I didn't want ugly first potatoes :tongue2:).  I'll assume charlottes then, as I don't think I could wait another couple of weeks.  I can barely contain my excitement now! :D :D
