Sounds like they haven't been stored quite right.

Only do earlies. Charlotte never lets me down and is a second early.  Had a good yield from them this year considering I do them in 24" pots and pop up garden tidies.

To be honest its not rocket science, just give them what they need and they will produce for you. Most earlies are productive, my faves are pentland Javlin, rocket, lady christal and swift, all produce well and easy to grow.

Anyone know if its ok to plant different varieties of potatoe next to each other?

I was thinking of going to one of the National Potatoe Day events and buying one or two seed potatoes of differing varieties.

I bought mine from B&Q the second earlies were fine but the maincrop had just started to chit, so I've chucked them in a cupboard in our garage where they'll stay cool and dark.  I hope it at least slows them down for a bit.

I don't think it helped that they were in a nice warm and sunny spot by the door at B&Q  :?

I had some lovely Charlottes last year and will probably use them again this year.

Wasn't too impressed with my maincrop (but can't remember what they were as their label is in the shed at the lottie).

Can anyone recommend a good sized and shape maincrop for me to try?
As long as it roasts well my family will be happy!

Which type make good baking pots as well... although a baked potato piled high with butter and cheese won't go down too well on my diet!!

I find Desiree to be a good cropper, pretty resistant and a good all rounder. It does make lovely roasties. :D

..............Mmmmmmm, roasties.

I know nothing about growing Maincrop, I've always grow second earlies.  Can you tell me if I chit Maincrop potatoes the same as the earlies, please?  I'm growing Maris Piper for the Maincrop.

If I get blight on them, is there anything that I can do to rescue them?
