Watering
« on: December 03, 2008, 13:25 »
I have managed to get hold of some soaker hoses and I was going to use them on the my plot, But they need to be connected to the tap for quite awhile, would it be possible to have a water barrel on top of my shed for the hose to connect to(8-9foot high shed.)? Would there be enough pressure?

Hi GLYN

If by soaker hoses you mean the type that constantly drips water into the ground around your plants, then yes the pressure should be ok. If you want a sprinkler effect then no, you would need some kind of pressure, such as a pump. Be careful of the weight of the barrel on the shed roof. 1 litre of water weighs 1kg. That means that a 205 litre barrel is almost a quarter of a ton.
