Winter harvest
« on: November 30, 2008, 16:57 »
Well, I've finally got round to my first harvest of the winter (including digging up the rest of the spuds   , but at least I'm 3-4 months ahead of last season's final spud harvest  - i.e. March this year   )

Dead chuffed with the cabbage, the leeks are the best of what is on the plot, doubt they'll bulk up much more - need to get them started earlier methinks, and parsnips / fennel just look good.  (Ignore the squashes, they're from the summer)

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Wow! What a haul!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

I think they're Javelin F1 (also planted White Gem but I don't think it's those ones)

Nice crops Yorkie.

In my slow cooker right now is a lovely stew with big chuky carrots, my first leeks and small but perfectly formed red cabbage heads, which I've quartered.  All of them harvested yesterday. When I get in from work I'll just need to sort us out some mashed potato and hey presto, job done.  I'm salivating at the thought of it  :D
