Worms! What to do now?
« on: November 29, 2008, 15:38 »
I noticed that Natasha the White Star stopped laying altogether last week. I thought it was the shorter days having an effect till I cleared out the droppings board and found a couple of worms under her favourite perching area. Not being able to get my hands on Flubenvet locally I put my order in with vetmeds on the web and got some Verm X for the flock to try.
4 days after Verm X treatment and Natascha is laying every morning like clockwork again and I found a load of 20+ dead worms in her poo.

The Flubenvet finally arrived this morning.
Question is: Do you guys think I should go ahead and give the Flubenvet or leave things alone for now?

I'd use the flubenvet in early spring but keep an eye out for any more symptoms of worms and treat with  the fulby in you see any problems.

Definately worm her properly with the flubenvet. The Verm X is a deterrent and preventative measure but will not kill an established infection.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Thanks Auntie and Kate. I've given it some thought and realise that there is no way that I'll get through the 240g of Flubenvet before it expires anyway and since it will not cause any harm to the girls, I may as well treat them for 7 days. I'll keep an eye out for any more worms in poo over the next week.
