Anyone growing Centiflor tomatoes?
« on: November 09, 2008, 23:23 »
I'm considering Centiflor tomatoes from Real Seeds next year. Has anyone grown them? If so, how much space did they take? Also, vine or bush? and how high do they grow?
Thanks
Martin

http://www.realseeds.co.uk/centitomatoes.html

I think Tesco are selling these baby tomatoes.  I bought a couple of boxes of tomatoes this weekend and they looked exactly like the cluster variety on the link.

They tasted OK, but garden grown against commercial grown is never any comparison.  I'd grow a couple to give them a go just for the novelty value.

I had 20+ tomato plants this year but I'm still buying fresh toms in November.  I've got to find a winter variety! :)

Realseeds are a bit vague about the plant sizes and dimensions.  Sadly it doesn't look like they can go in a hanging basket but they appear to be bushy rather than tall.  Bush tomatoes get eaten alive at my plot.

If you read the blurb, they do say that the "Millefleur" variety is a vine type.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I grew 6 of these plants this year.  And they do live up to their name - we got loads and loads of lovely little toms.  Great to eat as snacks (kids love them in lunch boxes or to nibble from a bowl on the way through the kitchen).  The last are still in the polytunnel and ready for a final pick now.

They are definitely a vine and take up as much space as other tomato plants.  Amazing.  I will grow again next year!

Plant plenty.  Celebrate success.  (Let selective memory deal with the rest.)
