Start off in pots, end March, early April.  Plant out end of May in a block formation.  Most sweetcorn seeds come with about 36 in a pack so go for 6 x 6.

Plant about 15" apart.

Enjoy from September onwards.

Important thing is SINGLY is pots as they hate root disturbance. Have a search for Richy's paper pots for a cheap method, or use loo roll centres.

Recommended spacing is 18" between plants.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Believe' Me 'It works. So do I do the same --similar  thing  for sweetcorn, or just  shove 'em in the ground? I await your reply.

Start them off inside - not too hot or they will get drawn. I use a greenhouse with just enough heat to keep the frost off.

They are then hardened off for planting to final position for after the final frost. (A guess this!).

Had my first sprouts today as well - they've had a good frost, along with home grown peas, carrots, parsnips & tatties.

Think there was a chicken buried somewhere under that lot.
