On bringing new chickens to your flock.

Whenever possible, when I bring in new chickens, I always try to keep them in quarentine for as long as possible, just incase they develop any diseases that they might infect my existing stock with.

I do this by keeping them in quarters as far away from the others as possible and by getting into a routine of feeding and watering them last. In this way, they are my last port of call and I don't go to them first and risk carrying on any nasties to the old stock.

This might be something useful to tag onto the buying chicken thread on poultry information. :thumright:
