Just picked my last one this afternoon (271008) before pulling the plants up and chucking them on the cumpost heap.
He's my best buddy, my dog called Woody.
If it works, organic. If it don't, well.........??

Yep - they're still going great guns.....can't believe it.     I've chopped away rather a lot of the large old leaves now......I hope that was OK??   ...only it was like a jungle trying to get to the courgettes without getting needles in me  :?

I think they've had it Faithmead,  just looking at the weather forecast for Tuesday night... Minus 2 deg! Oh well, will have to dig em out. 8)  8)  8)

Aawwww ...shucks. :(      oh well.....rather freezing weather than WET weather  8)

sown 11th March!! but I seem to remember at the time, I was worried they were WELL too early., and they didn't see the outside world until the end of May

It wasn't late then. They must be a good variety ? Which variety were they ?

Just started to sift through the old seed packets.... I don't throw anything away, just like me grandad!   and I found the courgette packet.
It was Tosca F1 they were sown 11/03 and hardened off at least 4 weeks, firstly in a mini GH, then gradually out into the big world 8) towards the end of May. I don't have a Compost heap at the lottie, so I just chucked a bucket of Home made compo on the ground and sat 'em in that! 8)
This was one of them 14/08/08
Life begins... On the kitchen windowsill.

My courgettes were subject to a mercy killing about three weeks ago.  What a relief, I just couldn't face another one.

It like banging your head against a brick wall - it's nice when they stop.

So why will we still plant too many next year?

Guaranteed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

-1.7C overnight - that should do 'em, particularly as the plot is exposed. Geraniums near the house are OK though.

Sleet and snow forecast today, (it is still October isn't it?), so looks like a day on the PC.

Cancel that - Mrs. DD. has other plans for me!

Forecast colder tonight.

Winter draws on.
