Leeks and Coffee

I remember reading something about leeks or onions or garlic benefitting from coffee grounds?  Does this ring a bell with anyone.  I'm about to put in my garlic (where my french beans are when they finally finish having only just started).  I am saving my coffee grounds but don't know whether to scatter or dig in, or even if it was 'Don't put coffee grounds anywhere near your onions'

I don't know about onions, lettuce do benefit from them, tomatoes quite on the contrary. If in doubt, compost it. I'd do myself. :D

Coffee does inhibit a lot of plant growth, so much so, that it is the very reason apparently that plantations need to be moved every ten years or so as they poison the ground even for themselves by then. :?

When I used to drink coffee, I always composted the grounds. My crops were too small to take chances on by direct mulching with grounds.

Coffee grounds are a good compost activator so will do their best work there as autumn moves in.I`m not sure about their action on onions/garlic.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll compost it, just in case it has the same affect on leeks as it has on tomatoes.
