What did you plant today?

I planted some garlic! Yippee! This may not sound like much, however it is my second item planted in my new 'garden' and I'm dead chuffed!

(I also did lots of digging and removing roots and rubbish).

I thought I would see what everyone else is planting to see if I could poach some ideas, as I am so very new to all this!  :D

What about shallots? Very hardy and easy to grow. Delicious and store well. What more could you want  :D

I can't wait until spring, hopefully I will have been able to prepare the rest of the ground by then! There's not a huge amount of space, but the brambles and weeds were about 5 foot tall, and took AGES to clear. Now I feel I'm onto the good bit, even if it is lots of digging! At least I can see the soil now!

at least both bathrooms and toilets are cleaned thouroughly and the sitting room is done, though!!

I spent all afternoon in the garden and left my boyfriend to keep an eye on the boys and cook tea! He even made me a cup of tea when I finished AND washed up! How lucky am I?  :D

Nothing  :(  filled in my raspberry trenches and put down some carpet paths and bark chipped them. Planted onions garlic and a few broad beans last week  :D  I'll be nipping down in the morning to put some cauli seedlings in and do some more winter digging.  :D

I took a break from revision to get some work done. Planted garlic, shallots, red and white onions.

It could be said that the garlic and shallots are the first things ive planted in that part of the plot - i extended a bed, by about 2ft, so had to start by deturfing, then digging over and removing tree roots and rocks.

got aching arms and hands now, from digging and from chopping trees/sawing logs, but its a great feeling knowing you've achieved something

much the same sort of plant, so yes, i always do. My patch runs as follows - 2 rows garlic, row shallots, 3 rows red onion, 2 rows white onion. Then a foot wide break to let me get between the rows!

Put in the onion sets and garlic yesterday, and going to do the broad beans today.  Love to overwinter the broad beans as you get them nice and early and don't tend to get black fly.

Thanks richy I will put some cauli seeds in today, if it works for you it may work for you.  I hope so.  :)  :)

Mmmmmm you can't get enough of them. I used to love going to Selby market when I visited a friend of mine who lived in Cawood.
