Could someone give me some advice on blenders? Getting a few things in now that would make lovely soups but just can't pick one! Ideally would like one that does everything, tips please.

I have a handheld one that suits soup making just fine.  It was only a couple of quid from tescos and does not take space on the kitchen side!

I got the cheapo Tesco stick blender too and it's fine for soup

Sometimes I don't want a totally blended soup, just a bit of the veg crushed to thicken it up a bit, so then I use a spud masher.

I've got both, a cheapo Tesco one for my soups and one on my Kenwood, but with a stick blender, you can blend the whole saucepan of soup in one go, but in the liquidiser you have to do it in bits.  So I tend to make one BIG saucepan full, blend it all then freeze it in double portions!!

I agree with you there GA....

I love my stick blender.... it's so easy to blitz the soup in the pan and a lot easier on the washing up!!!

The only thing is snapdragon, that if the soup is still hot it can melt the end of your blender!!!! lolol  It did my first one.  I spent months with a wonky end!!!

Thanks very much for the wonky ended advice folks :D I'll probably be plumbing with a cheap sealed one instead of a stick one for the first foray. Got my eye on a sub £10 one from either the shop we don't mention or asda.

Just to add, we've got the cheap tesco one too. We have loads of soups and it copes fine.

Does the end come off your one for washing Rob?   :)  :)   The one I got from ASDA that got slightly melted, used to undo, but the Tesco one doesn't.

Yes. I removed it for washing the other day and Julie nearly fell over. She'd been dangling the end ( ) in the washing bowl for ages
